Saint’s Peter and Paul Church
“A Passionate Restoration Careful and thorough research into the architectural history of the building, through research at the National Archives, as well as contributions by parishioners’ information and documents to provide evidence of the buildings’ past, informed the team and cemented the direction of restoring the church to its original Gothic-style glory, the period prior to its major ‘modernisation’ works in 1969.”

The Warehouse Hotel
“The conversion of a conservation warehouse into a hotel is, by nature, a difficult project, which the architects were able to address commendably. Despite the given single-volume warehouse space, the architects were able to inject new, intimate spaces into a unit-oriented hotel typology. The careful insertion of skylights within a deep plan at key areas that highlighted conserved roof trusses gave delightful instances of natural light. A taste of architectural flavour, reflected in some of the retained old elements, instilled a sense of place at the hotel and gave the character necessary for a hospitality project.
The jury panel unanimously agrees to award the project an Honourable Mention.”

Malay Heritage Centre
The restored Istana is now a place of pride in Kampong Glam and offers everyone an appreciation of Malay heritage and culture. The richness of Malay culture is retold through the reinterpretation of traditional architecture, which allows the open-yet-closed, traditional- yet- modern aspect of the building to shine through.

Hidden House
“Hidden House is a Good Class Bungalow perched on a hilly terrain overlooking a large woody landscape. It consists of a conserved bungalow and a new modern bungalow, creating a dialogue between 2 distinctly different Architecture. The form of the new modern bungalow is designed as a series of stepped terraces with green roofs to respect the conserved bungalow, creating a unique context. To give the design an added sense of tropicality for the modern bungalow, the perimeter of each floor is designed with deep overhanging eaves and its façade is fitted with motorized copper fins to provide adequate sun shading to its occupants within. The materials and colours of the new modern bungalow are one that is earthly, enabling it to harmonize with its natural environment. The result is an architecture that is sensitive to its environment and with spaces and details designed with a human touch.”- Tale Architects

Heng House
“Reminiscing tropical kampong houses is our main inspiration for this project. Our goal was to create a home that was easy-going in spirit with different pockets of space to play, rest and communicate. We blurred the perception of external and internal spaces by providing pockets of skylights & air wells within the living area of the house. The strategy creates a perceived outdoor space reminisce of the in-between kampong houses spaces where communal activities blossom. We were fascinated with the concept of up-cycling materials and had an appreciation for antique Javanese timber doors and windows. As such, we handpicked and restored battered timber windows/doors to use as an architectural fabric for the house facade and internal partition.” Goy Architects
